Give your boss a report or a product review, report on your suppliers, and so on without him/her asking for it (just make sure you don't appear as a "show off" when you do this). If you are poor in product reviews or in writing, it's time for you to sharpen your skills.

Remember that the number of years in service is only a small factor that can grant you a promotion, it is the skills, hunger for learning, and brilliance that can help you get noticed and raise your career ladder.
