Rules of Work #1 : Getting your Work Noticed

Supply Chain professional or not, you are welcome to read this blog category.

All of us want to have a successful career whether in the procurement, logistics, supply chain or any industry. But only few know how to get on top at the least possible time.

I've been reading a book entitled "Rules of Work" and I'd like to share some key-points in what I've learned.

RULE #1
GET YOUR WORK NOTICED
You probably have tons of co-workers in your company that also wants to get noticed. The best way to catch the attention of your boss is to give him/her an unsolicited report. By doing this, you will surely stand out from the crowd.

Give your boss a
report or a product review, report on your suppliers, and so on without him/her asking for it (just make sure you don't appear as a "show off" when you do this). If you are poor in product reviews or in writing, it's time for you to sharpen your skills

Constant learning and improvement are the keys for an individual to achieve a promotion. Remember that the number of years in service is only a small factor that can grant you a promotion, it is the skills, hunger for learning, and brilliance that can help you get noticed and raise your career ladder.

If you want to get on top, it's time for you to sharpen your skills! The fastest and most convenient way to do this is through participating in online training.

Find an online learning website that can help you improve your soft skills. According to Art Young, VP and Director Human Resources of A.F. Young Consulting LLC, the availability of online courses offers superb benefit to working adults because it offers them flexibility. Moreover, obtaining a degree or advanced degree helps prepare people for more responsibility and advancement.
